IAN SCOTT

My hairdressing apprenticeship took place in Jacques of Queensway London, after which I worked for five years in Kings Road in Chelsea. I then opened my first salon in East London.

Although it was very successful, I felt I was missing out on not working in central London and I consequently decided to sell my salon.

I went to work for the Robert Fielding Group managing their central London salons in Kings Road, Earls Court and Kensington and I was the manager at the opening of their prestigious new Golders Green Salon.

Later I was employed by Jingles International and I managed their salons in Charing Cross and Victoria. During this time, I gained a vast amount of experience travelling to America and Europe on teaching and show tours, including photographic work and teaching in their London Hairdressing School. After leaving Jingles International, I moved to Kingston upon Thames where I joined the Shylocks team, one of the leading salon groups in Surrey. After many happy years with Shylocks, I decided to open my own salon in Surbiton Road, Kingston called ‘The Place’.

After four years I opened a second salon in Teddington High Street before opening a third in Kingston town centre, employing many stylists and apprentices.

In 2004 my wife and I decided to start a new life in South West France. After the early years of commuting back to England to work in Teddington, in July 2007 I opened ‘La Petite Place’ in Le Dorat. This, to date, has been one of the happiest periods of my hairdressing career, working in a small Boutique Salon and being able to give the one-to-one service that I feel my clients deserve.
